Members can take out a contribution subscription in the app themselves: they choose a plan, the number of instalments and how to pay. Such a subscription appears in the portal just like one assigned by an administrator. An active subscription also gives the member the QR pass for check-in.
Where to find it
Sidebar → Finance → Finance, group Subscriptions (plans and active subscriptions) and group Setup (Stripe Connect).
Who can do this
Permission Manage billing (manage_billing) and the Finance module in your plan. The member needs an account with the member role.
Set up
- Connect Stripe (for automatic collection): Finance → Finance → Setup → Stripe Connect. Connect before you create plans: a plan created before the connection has no Stripe product and cannot be collected automatically.
- Create contribution plans under Subscriptions. Members only see plans that are active, not archived, and meant for their user type.
- Give members an account: with New member in the Member list.
- Let a test member choose a plan in the app and check that the subscription appears in the portal.
What the member does in the app
- Chooses a plan, or a custom monthly amount (allowed by default, between € 5 and € 500 per month).
- Chooses the number of instalments.
- Chooses manual payment or automatic collection via Stripe (SEPA, iDEAL or card).
After cancelling, the member can take out a new subscription later.
I can't see it / it doesn't work
- The member sees no plans. There is no active, non-archived plan for the member user type.
- Automatic collection doesn't work. Stripe Connect is not connected, or the plan was created before the connection.
- The member has no QR pass. The pass only works with an active subscription.
