Parents and students ask you questions through Communication. You can also start a conversation yourself with parents or (independent) students of one or more classes.
Where to find it
The Messages tab → Questions, or Search → Community → Communication.
Who can do this
Teachers, for their own classes, if the organisation uses Communication.
Step by step: answering a question
- Open a conversation; filter on All, Open or Closed if needed.
- Write your answer and send it. The status becomes Awaiting Parent or Answered.
- When it is done, tap Close.
Step by step: sending a message yourself
- Start a new message and tap Select Classes; choose one or more classes.
- Choose All Parents or select recipients yourself. You can also choose students (independent students get the message themselves).
- Enter a title and message, add attachments if needed and send. It becomes one shared conversation: all recipients see each other's replies. To talk to one parent privately, choose only that parent as recipient.
You remove your own message with Delete message. Also in this conversation shows who else reads along, such as a linked parent. Conversations started by the board are listed too.
I can't see it / it doesn't work
- A class has no recipients. No parents or students are linked to it yet.
- I only see News. The organisation does not use Communication.
Frequently asked questions
Where is the Questions tab? It is now under Messages, as the Questions segment.
Does the board see my conversations? Administrators with the right access can view conversations in the portal.
Do the other teachers of my class see my message to the parents? Yes. They get a notification, see the conversation with Sent by colleague and your name, and can reply. That way everyone knows what has already gone to the parents. Only you are notified of replies from parents. A question a parent asked only you is not visible to them.
