Following your child's homework

Teachers set homework and lesson summaries in the app. You see what your child has to do and how it is going.

The Child tab → Homework. On Home, This week also shows a count.

Who can do this

Parents, for their linked children. Homework is always visible; you cannot tick it off yourself. Handing in is only possible for an assignment with the label Voice recording: you then send in a recording.

Step by step: viewing homework

1. Pick the right child at the top.
2. By default you see the unfinished homework and the lesson summaries (label Summary) of the current season.
3. Tap an assignment for the description, the due date and any attachments.
4. Tap Show Filters to filter by status, date or keyword, for example to see finished homework.
5. Turn on Previous years to see homework from earlier seasons.

Step by step: handing in a voice recording

For some assignments the teacher asks for a voice recording, for example of a recitation. Such an assignment has the label Voice recording. This is only possible if your organisation uses the function and the teacher has turned it on for the assignment.

1. Pick the right child at the top and tap the assignment to expand it.
2. In the Voice recording block, tap Make a recording.
3. Tap the microphone to record. The first time, your phone asks for permission to use the microphone. With the buttons next to it you pause, resume or stop the recording; after 5 minutes it stops by itself.
4. Listen back with the play button. The 1× button switches to 0,5×, the arrow goes back 10 seconds, and a tap on the bar jumps to a point. Not right? Tap Record again.
5. If you already have the recording as a file, tap Choose a file instead (for example m4a, mp3, wav or ogg; at most 20 MB, wav 55 MB).
6. Optionally write a Note for the teacher and tap Send.

Step by step: after sending

1. The block shows Handed in with the date, possibly Late, and the date on which the recording is deleted automatically.
2. As long as the teacher has not listened yet, you can Replace it (send a new recording) or Withdraw it.
3. If it says Listened to, the teacher has played the recording and you can no longer replace it.
4. When the teacher gives feedback, you get a notification. You read and listen to it under Feedback from the teacher.

I can't see it / it doesn't work

• I don't see Make a recording. The assignment does not ask for a voice recording (there is no Voice recording label), or it is a lesson summary.
• The app is not allowed to use the microphone. Tap Open settings and allow the microphone for Aqlemy.
• The recording is paused. That happens when the app goes to the background. Tap resume to continue.
• Sending fails. Check your internet connection and try again; your recording is kept until sending succeeds.
• Replacing is no longer possible. The teacher has already listened to the recording.
• The list is empty. There is no open homework. Use the filters to also see finished homework.
• Old homework is gone. It belongs to an earlier season; turn on Previous years.
• An attachment does not open. Check your internet connection and try again.

Frequently asked questions

Can I respond to homework? Not on the assignment itself. Send the teacher a message through Messages → Questions.

Do I get a notification for new homework? Yes, if you have push notifications on.

Who can play the recording? The teacher of the class, you, and another parent linked to your child. The organisation's board only sees that something was handed in, not the recording itself.

How long is the recording kept? At most 7 days after sending; your organisation chooses 1 to 7 days. After that it is deleted automatically, as is the spoken feedback. The teacher can delete it earlier. What remains is the fact that it was handed in, with the note and the written feedback.

Does the recording stay on my phone? No. After sending or discarding, the app deletes it from your device. Aqlemy's privacy policy (articles 13 and 16) explains more.

Can both parents hand in? There is one submission per child. Every linked parent can send, replace or withdraw it. If the other parent sent one just before you, you see that submission; you can replace it as long as the teacher has not listened.
