Exams and tests (portal)

On the Exams page you manage tests and grades per class and school year. An exam is of type Grade (you only enter a grade) or Quiz with questions (with multiple-choice and open questions and points, which you can print). Teachers only see their own classes.

Where to find it

• Teacher: Sidebar → Education → Exams.
• Administrator: Sidebar → Education → Exams.

Who can do this

• Teachers, for the classes they are linked to: create, edit and delete exams and enter grades.
• Administrators with the permission Manage students (manage_students); only they also manage the subjects.
• The Student dossier module must be part of your organization's package (the education packages).

Set up

1. Administrator: click Subjects and add the subjects with New subject. You can later make a subject inactive or delete it.
2. Make sure the class exists, the teacher is linked to it and the students are in it (Teacher and Class Management).

Step by step: create an exam

1. Choose the Class and the School year.
2. Click New exam and choose the Type: Grade or Quiz with questions.
3. Fill in Title, Subject (or No subject), Date and Maximum score.
4. For a quiz with questions: click Add question, choose Multiple choice (with options and the correct answer) or Open ended, and give Points. The maximum score is then calculated from the points.
5. Click Save.

Step by step: enter grades

1. Click Grades on the exam. The Enter grades grid shows all students of the class.
2. Fill in the grade per student and optionally a Remark (optional). Use Search student… to find a name quickly.
3. Click Save all. The exam card shows how many grades have been entered.

Step by step: print

On the exam, choose Print / PDF: Student exam (PDF) and Answer key (PDF) for a quiz with questions, or Grade overview (PDF) with the class's grades.

Filter

Use All, Upcoming, Past and Quizzes. At the top are the counters Exams, Students, Grades entered and Expected.

I can't see it / it doesn't work

• "Select a class first". Select a class; if you see none, you are not linked to a class yet.
• I can't choose a subject. There are no (active) subjects yet; an administrator adds them via Subjects.
• I don't see the Subjects button. Teachers cannot manage subjects.
• A student is missing from the grid. They are not in this class.
• The menu item is missing (administrator). You lack Manage students, or the Student dossier module is not in the package.

Frequently asked questions

Can students take the test online? No. You print a quiz with questions as a PDF; afterwards you enter the grades here.

Are parents notified when I enter grades? No, entering grades does not send a notification.

Where do I see one student's grades? In the Student dossier, Exams tab. You can also change a grade with a remark there.

What happens when I delete an exam? The exam and all its grades are deleted.
