Sending federated announcements

With federated announcements you send one announcement from the umbrella that appears in several affiliated organizations at once. You choose the audience (which roles see it) and which organizations it goes to. You need the koepel_broadcast permission.

Sidebar → Umbrella → Federated announcements. (Also reachable via the Broadcast button on the federated dashboard.)

Sending an announcement

1. Enter a Title (required) and optionally a Body and a Link.
2. Choose the Audience (role): Everyone, Members only, Parents only, Teachers only, Parents + teachers, or Admins only.
3. Turn Push notification on to also send push + email, or leave it off for the in-app feed only.
4. Under Public visibility, choose whether the announcement may also appear on the public umbrella page. Uncheck this for internal/private announcements.
5. Under Send to, select the organizations: All organizations, or tick specific ones.
6. Click the send button (it shows how many organizations you're sending to).

If you choose Admins only, the announcement appears only in the admin portal of the local admins — not in the mobile app of members, parents or teachers. Public visibility is then automatically disabled.

Previously sent announcements

At the top is the list Previously sent announcements. Per announcement you see the title, the audience, the number of organizations and the counts for views and likes. Use Refresh to reload the list.

Retracting an announcement

1. Find the announcement in the list.
2. Click Delete and confirm.
3. The announcement is removed from all affiliated organizations at once.

Tips

• If you select nothing under "Send to", the announcement goes to all organizations automatically.
• Use "Admins only" for internal instructions to local admins that members don't need to see.

What can and can't I do?

• You can: send one federated announcement to all your organizations or a selection, and retract it later.
• You cannot: have the announcement edited per organization by the local admin. In the affiliated organizations a federated announcement is read-only: the local admin sees a "From umbrella" marker and the edit and delete buttons are disabled.
• You cannot: let an "Admins only" announcement leak into the mobile app — it always stays inside the admin portal.

Frequently asked questions

Can a local admin edit or remove my announcement? No. Federated announcements are read-only for local admins. Only you (or a super admin) can retract them.

I sent something by mistake — now what? Retract the announcement via Delete and send a corrected version.

Troubleshooting

• The send button is disabled. Enter at least a title and make sure at least one organization is selected.
• I lack the koepel_broadcast permission. Ask a super admin to grant it.
• The push notification didn't arrive. Check whether "Push notification" was on; otherwise only the in-app feed was updated.
