On the holidays page you record free days and closures. A holiday blocks new lessons on those dates and can automatically send a push notification to the audience. Unlike an event, a holiday is a full-day closure without start and end times (optionally with an early dismissal time).
Where to find it
Sidebar → Planning → Holidays.
The views
- List — a table with a search box and type filter.
- Calendar — the free days on an agenda.
Step by step: creating a holiday
- Click New holiday.
- Give it a title and description (multilingual: TR, NL, EN, AR).
- Choose the type: school holiday, official holiday or event-related.
- Choose the academic year from the dropdown (for example 2025-2026).
- Set the start and end date (no time — holidays are full days).
- Choose the audience: everyone, an organization part, or specific groups.
- Optional: turn on Send push notification, or Early dismissal if the day ends earlier — then enter the early dismissal time.
- Save.
Filtering
Above the list you can search by name, filter by type and filter by academic year.
Difference from events
- A holiday is a closure: a full day, optionally with an early dismissal time, blocking new lessons.
- An event is something that takes place: with start and end times, speakers and possibly registrations.
Tips
- Enter all known free days at the start of the school year in one go — the schedule then blocks them automatically.
- Use Early dismissal for half days instead of a full closure.
- From an event you can use Create holiday automatically to generate a matching closure straight away.
Frequently asked questions
Are members notified? Only if you turn on Send push notification when saving.
Does a holiday block existing lessons? A holiday blocks scheduling new lessons on those dates; check existing schedules under class management.
Do holidays have a time? No, they are full days. Only with Early dismissal do you set an end time.
Troubleshooting
- I can't save. Type, academic year and the dates are required; with Early dismissal the early dismissal time is also required.
- Members got no notification. The push is only sent if you enable that option when creating it.
- I don't see Holidays in the sidebar. The holidays module is off for your organization, or you don't have the manage planning permission. Ask a lead administrator to enable the module or grant you the permission.
