Announcements are short messages for your members, parents and teachers. They appear in the mobile app and can also be shared as a push notification, by email, on your public website and on social media. You write them in several languages, add attachments or a poll and choose exactly who sees them.
Where to find it
Sidebar → Communication → Announcements. At the top are the counters Active, Scheduled, Expired and Engagement (likes and comments).
Who can do this
- Permission Manage announcements (
manage_announcements). It does not give access to Newsletters or Communication; those have separate permissions. - The Announcements module is in every plan. The Parents and Teachers audiences only appear when the education module is on (Education Light, Education Complete, Members + Education Complete).
- Teachers do not see this page. A platform admin without an organization sees a warning: announcements always belong to an organization.
Step by step: create an announcement
- Click New announcement.
- Fill in title and text. The first language tab is the required language: the language you use the portal in (Dutch, English or Turkish). The other languages are optional; fill them in yourself or click Fill with automatic translation. The AI Copilot button helps you draft or improve the text.
- The settings below appear only on the required language's tab. Set the start and end date; outside that period the announcement is not active. Optionally choose a Repeat Interval (Daily, Weekly, Monthly).
- Choose the Target Audience: Everyone, Members, Parents, Teachers or Parents & Teachers. For parents and teachers you can narrow it with Clusters and classes; leaving it empty means all classes. Classes you later add to a chosen cluster are included automatically.
- Turn on Send notification if the audience should get a push notification.
- Turn on Show on public website if visitors of your public page may see it too.
- Add an image or video and any attachments. To let people vote, click Add Poll.
- Save.
Step by step: manage the list
- Use the segments All, Active, Scheduled and Expired, the archive, the search box and Filter (also by audience) to find an announcement.
- Drag the handle on the left to change the order.
- Per announcement: edit, duplicate, delete (with confirmation), preview, likes, comments and views.
- Send by email sends an existing announcement by email to the audience afterwards; it then shows that it was sent.
- Share on social media posts a saved announcement on your organization's connected Facebook or Instagram page. You connect the account once in that panel. Instagram needs at least one image; Facebook can also post text only.
Announcements from the umbrella
If your organization belongs to an umbrella, you may see announcements labelled From umbrella. They are read-only: only the umbrella can edit or delete them.
I don't see it / it doesn't work
- I don't see the Announcements menu. You lack the Manage announcements permission, or the module is off. You can see modules in Settings → Settings, tab Features (read-only); ask Aqlemy if it is missing.
- I cannot choose Parents or Teachers. The education module is not on in your plan.
- The announcement is not in the app. Check the start and end date and the audience (class selection).
- The push notification did not arrive. Was Send notification on? Recipients must allow notifications in the app.
Frequently asked questions
Do I have to fill in all languages? No. Only your portal language is required. So Turkish is not always required.
Does everyone get my announcement by email? No, only if you use Send by email. By default it appears in the app, optionally with a push.
What is the difference with a newsletter? An announcement is short and appears in the app. A newsletter is a formatted email built from blocks (Communication → Newsletters).
Can I change an announcement from the umbrella? No, only the umbrella can edit or delete it.
Can I also send an SMS? No. SMS and WhatsApp are not supported. An announcement reaches people through the app (with a push notification), by email or on your public website.
